Email Policy and Guidelines (@student.ku.edu.np)

Email policy and guidelines for students with access to KU Student Email Account of @student.ku.edu.np domain

  1. The email account provided will only be used for university correspondence or educational/research purposes.
  2. The account holder will be responsible to if/any illegal or immoral consequences arising from the misuse of the email account. Any such operations will be subject to KU's Rules & Regulations and Nepal Government's Law.
  3. ISMS is not backing up any individual emails so the account holder is solely responsible for taking backups of emails or contents of the drive.
  4. The account holder should follow IT Policies and Guidelines provided by KU and Nepal Government.
  5. ISMS is not responsible for any damages occurred due to Force Majeure events like loss of internet/network connectivity, issues with email service providers, hacks and spam messages.
  6. The email account will be automatically deleted after one month of graduation without prior notice.
  7. ISMS holds full right to assign suitable username(a unique id which is not changeable), permit/block provided services, or remove online access as per security measures without prior notice.

Email policy and guidelines for staff, faculty, units, clubs, research and projects with access to KU Email Account of @ku.edu.np domain

  1. The email account provided will only be used for university correspondence or educational/research purposes.
  2. The account holder will be responsible to if/any illegal or immoral consequences arising from the misuse of the email account. Any such operations will be subject to KU's Rules & Regulations and Nepal Government's Law.
  3. ISMS is not backing up any individual emails so the account holder is solely responsible for taking backups of emails or contents of the drive.
  4. The account holder should follow IT Policies and Guidelines provided by KU and Nepal Government.
  5. ISMS is not responsible for any damages occurred due to Force Majeure events like loss of internet/network connectivity, issues with email service providers, hacks and spam messages.
  6. The email account will be automatically deleted without prior notice after one month of resignation, clearance or non-renewal of contract for individual accounts and after the service period of units/sections/projects has ended.
  7. ISMS holds the full right to assign suitable username(firstname.lastname or a unique id which is not changeable), permit/block provided services, or remove online access as per security measures without prior notice.

IP, Domain, Web Hosting Policy and Guidelines

The applicants/users using IP, domain and web-hosting services of ISMS should abide by the following policy and guidelines.

  1. The applicant is responsible for the timely update and upgrade of related hardware or software packages.
  2. The applicant is responsible for taking backups and monitoring the provided services.
  3. ISMS is not responsible for any damages occurred due to Force Majeure events like natural calamities, fire, theft, hardware failures, database failures or hacks.
  4. The applicant should provide administrator logins to the server and its services to ISMS.
  5. The applicant should follow IT Policies and Guidelines provided by KU and Nepal Government.
  6. The applicant is not allowed to use pirated OS, Software packages or Contents.
  7. The applicant is not allowed to use the provided services for personal motives, defame others or cause damages to any person or organization.
  8. Any illegal operations will be subject to KU’s Rules & Regulations and Nepal Government’s Law.
  9. ISMS hold full right to,
    1. Modification of application acceptance criteria
    2. Selection of suitable domain name
    3. Allocation of proper resources
    4. Permit/Block provided services
    5. Change Network/IP Addresses
    6. Cancel Domain/Hosting Services
    7. Remove services and resources if dormant more than a year
    8. Shutdown Server/Services and remove online access as per security measures without prior notice
  10. The applicant must submit a clear copy of his/her KU ID Card along with this application.

Social Media Policy and Guidelines

All individual student, academic and non-academic staff; all clubs, councils, committees and societies functional within the university system including those from affiliated institutions/colleges that are using the University Logo and Name in any social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube etc. should abide by the information and policy provided here.
